Detox! Is not a dirty word!
Despite the common misconception that detoxing is all about deprivation and starvation, a gentle cleanse is quite the opposite. It doesn’t have to be a huge chore. There are many simple tips which can be incorporated into everyday life which can support these elimination organs and help to ensure our detoxification pathways are working well.

Health consequences of Toxicity
One of the most common signs of excess toxic load on our body is excess weight.Toxins are stored in fat which can often make it incredibly difficult to lose weight and contribute to feeling lethargic, sluggish and finding it difficult to concentrate. We all know about the consequences of being overweight, but the long term consequences of being toxic can be far more concerning and can lead to issues including allergies, digestive conditions, psoriasis, eczema, menstrual disorders and anemia.

Detox Programs
detox2The body is exposed to all kinds of toxins in daily life and our bodies are constantly working to break these down. Once the body becomes congested with toxins it puts a lot of stress on your body and leads to many health problems such as fatigue, joint pain and other chronic diseases. A healthy diet combined with regular detoxing is essential to improve your overall health. D-toxes will soon  have you feeling more energised.

There are many health benefits associated with detoxification, and in today’s world detoxing is important. Unfortunately toxins are very common in our everyday environment. Some examples of these toxins include heavy metals, pesticides, chemicals, food additives, and pollutants that are present in the air, water and food that we consume. As well as being exposed to these environmental pollutants, toxins may also be generated internally by bacteria, yeasts and parasites in your digestive system. These internally-generated toxins are then absorbed into your bloodstream, ultimately affecting your health. Rather than allowing these toxins to continue to build up in your body, you can use a detoxification program, to remove these toxins safely.

Here are just a few of the signs that may indicate a Detox is required

  1. Firstly we will concentrate on the removal of “bad bugs” from your digestive system.
  2. Secondly we need to replace the “bad bugs” with healthy ones to improve digestive function. We will also heal and repair your digestive tract.
  3. Lastly we will be completing the program by looking at supporting and enhancing the capacity of your kidneys and liver to assist in the removal of wastes.
It all begins with your Digestive System
Natural Healthcare Practitioners have always known that the digestive system is the source of health and disease, and our modern scientific understanding has proven this to be the case. This means of course, that you cannot successfully detoxify the body without having treated the digestive system and repaired the lining of the digestive tract. If you do not treat the digestive system first it is like replacing the oil in your car without replacing the filter; the oil is going to be ruined very quickly.

Most people with toxicity develop a problem called “leaky-gut syndrome” (also known as increased intestinal permeability). In a healthy digestive system, the lining of the digestive system is a very good filter, allowing beneficial nutrients like vitamins and amino acids to pass into the bloodstream, whilst keeping toxic bacteria and waste products of digestion within the bowel.

This filter is easily damaged by infection, medications, bad bacteria, yeasts and parasites, which then lead to the unregulated transport of large quantities of partially digested foods and waste into the body. This places a tremendous stress on the other detoxification organs in the body (i.e. liver, kidneys). Eventually, a percentage of this material escapes capture by the liver and kidneys and ends up entering the general circulation, where it can lead to many of the symptoms of toxicity. As a result, “leaky gut syndrome” results in a great deal of stress upon the immune system, the liver and virtually every other organ or system of the body. This is why we support the digestive system when completing any Dtox Program.
